Image shows the subject in a Napoleonic pose with one hand thrust in his frock coat, standing beside a draped podium on which his forage cap rests.

The subject wears matching dark frock coat and trousers. On the coat are 1st Lieutenant shoulder straps. He wears a waist belt with rectangular sword belt of a spread-winged eagle with an applied silver wreath. Attached to the belt is his Model 1840 Medical sword. Visible on the front of his forage cap are the letters “US” within a wreath.

Image has good clarity and contrast. Looking at the image under a loop the clarity is not sharp but it is good enough to see details. Mount corners are clipped.

Reverse has photographers mark for PLUMB GALLERY BY B. P. PAIGE, WASHINGTON, D.C.  [ad]
