Image is a three-quarter seated view of major or lieutenant colonel. He sits with his legs crossed. He wears a dark double-breasted frock coat with matching dark trousers. Coat has a nice pair of double-border shoulder straps with an oak leaf in the rank filed. He holds his forage cap in his lap and with a loop you can barely make out the bottom of an embroidered bugle on the front of the crown.
Image is clear with excellent contrast. Upper right corner has some light surface dirt. Lower mount is marked J. T. UPSON BUFFALO, N.Y.
Reverse is blank except for some collector information in pencil. [ad]
