Oversized CDV meas. approx. 4.25 x 3.00 inches showing a group of four officers and one civilian posed in front of a large wall tent pitched by a tree.

The officers are grouped around a civilian gentleman who sits on a camp stool at center with one arm around the shoulder of a younger officer seated on the ground next to him. This seated officer wears a dark sack coat with 2^nd lieutenant shoulder straps and a dark slouch hat with crossed sabers and a single regimental number above it (single number and too small to make out.)  Sitting next to the civilian is another officer smoking a pipe and wearing a checkered shirt. From a companion view it is known that this officer is either a major or lieutenant colonel. Seated on the ground at front is another officer in a dark slouch hat with regimental number on the crown and a dark shell jacket with 1^st lieutenant shoulder straps and he is armed with a cavalry saber. Behind the group is standing another officer also wearing a dark slouch hat and a commercial sack coat with shoulder straps and a cavalry saber.

Contrast is good and the clarity is excellent. Paper has minor light scattered spots of along the top edge.
