Straight on chest-up view of a cleanshaven Union soldier wearing an open frock coat with a matching military vest underneath. On his left chest is an ID disc attached to a spread-winged eagle pin.
Image is clear with good contrast. Image has a few faint spots of discoloration and light surface dirt. Top of mount ha cs been slightly trimmed.
Reverse has a blue 2 cent tax stamp along with several modern pencil notations. One notation reads “CAME WITH FLAG” while the other reads “50th ILL. INF. POSSIBABLY (sic) Co. B.” [ad]
