CDV is a full seated view of a Union officer wearing a dark single-breasted frock coat with barely visible shoulder straps and matching trousers. He also wears a sword belt with rectangular plate. He rests one arm on a cloth covered table. On the table is his forage cap with infantry hunting horn and regimental numbers on the front. Numbers cannot be made out. Also on the table is a small black dog that mixes in with the officer’s dark jacket behind him giving the dog perfect camouflage.
Standing next to the officer, and resting one arm on his chair, is a woman wearing a dark colored dress with white undersleeves and a lace collar. At her throat is a cameo brooch.
Image has good clarity and contrast and is clean.
Reverse has photographer’s mark for W. L. GERMON’S…PHILADELPHIA. [ad]
