This senior NCO looks as though he will put up with no fooling in the ranks! Image shows a clean shaven clenched jawed 1st Sergeant seated and resting one arm on a table. He wears a dark frock coat with matching dark trousers. Clearly visible on each sleeve is his badge of authority, a crisp set of three chevrons surmounted by a lozenge.
Image is very clear with excellent contrast.
Mount edges show light surface dirt but otherwise the paper and mount are clean.
Reverse has a hand canceled tax stamp dated 1864. [ad]
