VERY NICE SIXTH PLATE AMBROTYPE OF A UNION CAVALRYMAN

$295.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 450-46

Three-quarter standing view of a Union cavalryman posed in front of a painted backdrop of a large fort on top of a hill with a US flag on a pole floating above the fort.

The subject wears a forage cap with a dark shell jacket with matching trousers. The jacket is buttoned up but his collar has been left undone to expose a bow-tie. The subject also wears his cavalry belt rig with shoulder support strap, rectangular eagle sword belt plate and saber scabbard. The soldier holds the empty scabbard with one hand while the other holds the sword point down. Only the hilt and part of the blade can be seen.

Image is clear with great contrast. The surface of the image is in good condition however there is a small area of discoloration just above the subjects head. The image comes housed in a nice half case with brass mat and frame.
