NINTH PLATE AMBROTYPE OF WOMAN IN MOURNING

$45.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 172-3097

This ambrotype is a bust view of a woman wearing a black bonnet with black lace draped on the back. The border of the bonnet also appears to be black except for around her cheeks where there is some lighter lace or flowers. The tied bonnet ribbon under her chin also looks to be black. She wears a dark dress which is mostly covered by a dark shawl with a broad dark band on the edge. The woman also looks sad despite her lightly tinted cheeks. This subject certainly looks like she is in mourning but the white on the bonnet causes one to wonder.

The image comes in a full case, frame and mat. The case has been repaired at the hinge but is once again coming loose.
