Ca. late 1850s/early 1860s. Full lea. case [broken hinge] with brass frame matte. Oval image features young ten or eleven year old drummer boy in standing studio pose w/left arm resting on table. Boy is clad in kepi, & blue vest & shell jacket with tinted buttons. Image exhibits oxidation around the oval edge. Within the image, the emulsion has collapsed, the rear of image, from the subject's waist down, and to the right lower edge of table. Image is in other respects clear, and attractive. Outer casing very lightly scuffed, else VG, as is the inner frame and matting. An drummer boy image, and scarce.
