Nice, clean crystal clear image of a young Union soldier posed seated with his musket on his lap.
The subject wears a dark forage cap and matching four-button sack coat with light trousers. He also wears his cartridge box and sling as well as his waist belt with cap box. Only the center portion of the musket is visible. It has a long range sight and looks to be a Model 42.
The image is very clear. In fact it is clear enough to see the grain on the leather cartridge box sling. There are some minor surface scratches along the edges but nothing that detracts from the quality of the image.
The view comes in a brass floral mat and frame housed in a thermoplastic Union case with brass hinges. The case is decorated front and back with raised geometric designs. Case is free of chips or cracks.
A high quality image.
