On the inside of the case, opposite of the image, is a small piece of paper glued on top of the velvet lining. The note is inscribed in period ink and reads, “Wm. F. Wells & dear Dash, one of the best bird dogs in Haufichier County”.

Image is clear with good contrast. Some light oxidation has occurred.
