Image shows a full view of a well-dressed family. Mother is wearing a plaid silk dress with white collar and undersleeves, and brooch, ear bobs and ring. Her baby sits on her lap wearing a printed dress and leather shoes. Older child appears to be a boy with curled hair. He is wearing a plaid jacket with white shirt, ribbon tie and trousers, which likely button to the jacket. Bearded father is wearing a dark colored frock coat, light colored vest, with white shirt and cravat. Their cheeks have been highlighted pink by the photographer. Image is clear with good contrast. Shows light oxidation.

Image is housed in a full gutta percha case which is in very good condition. Case is lined in embossed brown velvet. Decorative brass mat surrounds image.  [sl]
