WONDERFUL QUARTER PLATE AMBROTYPE OF A MILITIA DRUMMER BOY

$450.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1013-06

Image shows a young boy, approx. 10-12 years old, standing beside his snare drum. He wears a dark slouch hat pinned up in the front with a cockade. He also wears a gray nine button tail coat, white vest and colonial type knee breeches with tall white socks. In his left hand he holds a fife. The subject’s coat has only the top two buttons fastened causing the coat to fall away to the sides like a colonial garment exposing his buttoned up vest. Coat buttons appear to be flat and are touched with gilt.

Image has good clarity and contrast. It comes housed in a brass hinged Union case with a scrollwork decoration on the exterior covers. Case is in excellent shape. Image also has the brass mount and frame.  [AD]
