Nice half-plate image of a young lady seated in a decorative high-backed chair at a cloth covered table. She wears a dark dress with a white lace collar and a touched gilt brooch at her throat.

Image has good clarity and passable contrast but it would be better if it was a bit lighter.

Scalloped mat and frame are excellent and have the usual scroll decoration.

The union case is a work of art in itself. At center is an oval medallion about 1/8^th of an inch deep with three raised figures at center consisting of a woman holding a child in her lap with another standing at her knee and labeled across the bottom “THE HOLY FAMILY.” This is surrounded by wonderful raised scrollwork and geometric background decoration. Case is free of cracks. There’s one very small chip along the clasp edge.

Interior red crushed velvet pillow is embossed with a flower and vine decoration.  [ad]
