This is a waist-up view of a boy who is sitting in a chair with folded hands. In the chair next to him is a dog. Boy is wearing a dark colored coat, vest, white shirt and cravat. Written on the inside of the case behind the image are the words, “THIS WAS TAKEN IN MAY, 1854 NETT MASON MAY 26, 1862”.

Image is clear with good contrast. Some light oxidation has occurred.

Image comes housed in full pressed paper case, which is in good condition.  Case is lined in faded red colored velvet which has an embossed design. Decorative brass mat surrounds the image.

This daguerreotype was part of a unique collection of images that featured animals.   [sm]
