CIVIL WAR ERA SIXTH-PLATE TINTYPE OF A WOMAN

$25.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 783-31

The subject of this image is a young woman perhaps in her twenties. She is posed seated in a chair with her hands in her lap. She wears a white dress with a printed floral design. Around her shoulders and arms she wears a shear black shawl. The shawl is gathered at the front near her waist leaving the upper body visible. On her head is an elaborate veil with flowers across the top and hanging lace on the sides. The head piece has two wide ribbons at bottom that drape down over the subject’s front obscuring most of her dress. She has her hands crossed in her lap and the photographer touched a bracelet and ring with some gilt paint.

The image is clear but the contrast is a little dark. The image comes housed in a full split cloth case with a full frame and mat. The image is clean though the brass frame has some light surface dirt. Both halves of the case match with the lid missing one edge.
