Image shows a young unidentified Union soldier posed in front of a painted back-drop of a camp scene and fort.
The subject stands in the classic Napoleonic pose with one hand thrust in his coat. He wears a dark sack coat and matching dark trousers. On his head is the Model 1858 dress or “Hardee” hat minus the trimmings. At his waist is a Model 1851 NCO belt with the rectangular eagle plate with applied silver wreath.
The back drop consists of two Sibley tents with a full color tinted US flag rising above them while off to the opposite side is a stone fort with sloping bastions.
The image is clear and clean with a tiny bit of waviness to the plate. Contrast is a little on the dark side. Image comes housed in a full brass frame and plain brass mat.
