This is a 1/6 plate tintype of a Union soldier wearing a kepi, a nine-button frock coat, and a vest. The photo is clear with good contrast. The man’s cheeks have been tinted. The image comes with a standard style brass mat and frame in good condition with just a few small spots of tarnish.
The case is in displayable condition. It shows wear on the outer surfaces, has separations in two corners, and has split at the hinge. The interior has a crushed red velvet pad and lining. The two halves of the case do match, each side featuring the same pattern. [jet]
