NINTH PLATE TINTYPE OF A CONFEDERATE SOLDIER

$1,150.00

Quantity Available: 1

Item Code: 968-04

Very clear and clean image of a young Confederate soldier sporting muttonchops and seated by a table. The subject wears a high collared, 8 button shell jacket with matching trousers that have a dark leg stripe. The buttons of the jacket are open to reveal a dark bowtie and a light shirt with a checked pattern. A closer study of the jacket does not reveal any epaulettes on the shoulders and all buttons are touched with gilt. The uniform is so light in color that it appears almost white in the image but is obviously a light gray in reality.

The only blemish is a small scratch near the subject’s chin which is barely visible with the naked eye and only stands out under magnification.

Image comes housed in a complete leatherette case with a brass mat and frame. Inside cover has a nice padded lining with a crisp geometric impression.  [AD]
