Very clear and clean ninth plate tintype of a clean-shaven soldier wearing an enlisted man’s kepi with a dark frock coat with gilt buttons and a matching dark vest with watch chain.
The front of the kepi is clearly marked “A” over “153.” Unfortunately which state this soldier was from is not known.
New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois and Indiana all had 153rd regiments.
The union case has a wonderful flying angel at center of an oval on both sides with raised decorations around the edges. There are no chips or cracks. Interior has a nice purple crushed velvet pillow opposite the photo. [ad]
