UNIDENTIFIED SIXTH PLATE TIN OF SEATED FEDERAL SOLDIER IN UNION CASE

$250.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1054-160

Clean clear image of a Union Private seated at a table on which his forage cap rests. He wears a dark frock coat with attachments for shoulder scales visible. He coat is buttoned at the throat but the rest is open revealing a check shirt underneath. Trousers are light. The forage cap on the table appears to have a slight blue tint. There is a regimental number and company letter on the crown of the cap but, like all the brass in the image, the photographer touched them with gilt paint and made them unreadable.

Image has great contrast and is really sharp.

With the image is the usual brass frame and mat with scroll decoration. Case is a full patriotic union case with shield at the center of a star fort, inside a large star made up of smaller five-pointed stars below a riband that reads “UNION.” This is all inside of an oak leaf wreath. Case is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips.  [ad]
