Image shows a rather young Union soldier posed in front of a painted backdrop of a camp scene with a flag floating from the top of a pole. The camp consists of dog tents on the left and Sibley tents on the right. The backdrop is framed by trees with a high hill rising in the distance.
The subject wears a dark forage cap with matching dark frock coat and trousers. Coat has brass shoulder scales visible. He wears a rather thin leather belt with a roller buckle. Stuffed in his belt is a revolver that appears to be a Prescott revolver. By his side is his musket with fixed bayonet.
Image clarity is good but the contrast is a bit on the dark side. That being said, all aspects of the image are clearly visible.
Plate has some minor creases but nothing that detracts from it.
Photo comes in half leather case with usual scrollwork decorated frame and mat. [AD]
