Leather case has a repaired spine and a raised exterior decoration of squares, shells and a stippled center. The interior holds two ninth-plate images. The left side holds a chest up view of a Union Private. He wears a dark kepi and dark frock coat. He displays some chin whiskers and his cheeks are lightly tinted.

The right side of the case holds the image of a young woman with flowers in her hair and earrings that have been lightly touched with gilt paint. She wears a dark dress with a white lace collar with a dark bow just below it.

Both images have good clarity and passable contrast.

The brass mats and frames match with similar scroll decorations.

A very nice pair of images.  [AD]
