NINTH PLATE TINTYPE OF CONFEDERATE 1ST LIEUTENANT IN UNION CASE

$300.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1054-86

Image is a bust view of a young man of about 18 or 20 years wearing a light colored coat with two gilt buttons visible on the front. On each side of his collar are two horizontal lines indicating the rank of a 1st lieutenant. The back end of each line has a dot of gilt indicting a button.

Image has good clarity and passable contrast. The mat is scalloped with a dot lined border and a frame that is the usual scrollwork decoration.

The union case that houses the image is in very nice condition. The raised decoration on the exterior has a small basket with flowers at center surrounded by vines. The case is free of chips and cracks. The interior pillow is of red crushed felt.

This is a nice little image.  [AD]
