Subject is seated in a chair hold his kepi in his hand. He wears a dark frock coat with gilt tinted Russian shoulder knots, buttons and single looped cuff piping. Each cuff also has three gilt buttons. His trousers are light with a dark leg stripe. The dark kepi has a gilt quatrefoil on top of the crown which is also outlined with a welt of light-colored cord. The base of the crown also has a band of lighter material while the side buttons, chinstrap buckle are touched with gilt. Cap also has gold piping on the side which is also touched with gilt.

Contrast is poor though all details are visible. Clarity is good. The top portion of the image has some spots of peppering.

Image is housed in a brass mat and frame with the usual floral and scroll decoration. Both are in nice condition.  [ad]
