SIXTH PLATE TINTYPE OF SEATED UNION SOLDIER IN WONDERFUL MOTHER OF PEARL CASE

$225.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 846-354

Image shows a Union private seated with his left arm resting on the back of his chair. He wears a dark frock coat buttoned only at the throat. The rest of the coat is open to partially reveal a dark shirt with a light printed pattern underneath. He also wears dark trousers. The buttons of the frock coat and a pinky ring on the right hand are touched with gilt and the subject cheeks are nicely tinted rose.

Clarity and contrast are excellent. Image is also very clean. The photograph is housed in the usual scroll and floral stamped brass mat and frame.

The exterior of the case is Mother of Pearl with painted gold accents. The loose front cover has an excellent hand painted scene of a house on the edge of a wood not far from the bank of a creek. Painting has light crackling but no missing paint. The brass closure strap on the case still operates properly.    [ad] [ph:L]
