FULL PLATE TINTYPE OF AN UNIDENTIFIED NEW YORK SOLDIER

$150.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 344-746

Heavily tinted full standing view of a young Union soldier. The subject stands at the position of “ATTENTION” with his musket by his side. He wears a forage cap, dark blue coat and light blue trousers.  The coat is the length of a sack coat but the photographer has added numerous tinted buttons to the front and two on each cuff. The subject also wears a waist belt and plate with a cartridge box. Scratched into the cartridge box is a small “NY.” The photographer even went so far as to tint the carpet on the floor and the background. There are some minor scratches along the edges and some tint missing from the upper right hand corner. None of the scratches touch the subject. Full plates are not often encountered. There is no mat, frame or case.
