GAR FUNERAL STEREOVIEW

$15.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 205-123

1890’s stereo card showing the funeral of a GAR veteran. There is no identification or caption on the card. It shows what looks to be a cloth covered casket with a painting of the veteran in uniform leaning against the casket at center. Below the painting is a flower arrangement that reads “POST 7/G.A.R.” This flower arrangement is flanked by one in the shape of a layer and one in the shape of an anchor. The top of the casket is covered with another large arrangement while on the wall is a shield of flowers that reads “1ST BAT. CAV.” There is some other lettering but it is difficult to read. This shield is surmounted by a wreath of laurel and flanked by crosses of flowers. Just above the portrait of the veteran are the three chain links that symbolize the Odd Fellows. This is also done in flowers.

Image has very good contrast and only light surface soiling from age and storage.
