Water logged wooden crate meas. approx. 14.00 inches long x 13.00 inches wide x 7.00 inches high. Crate is nailed together and is a little delicate but is holding together well. No signs of any markings remain. Each end panel has incised handles. Crate is complete except for one side lower panel is missing a 1.50 inch long x 0.50 inch high piece of wood. There is no lid. The bottom has a 0.50 inch wide split running its length due to swelling and shrinking of the wood. The surface of the box shows some swelling and has numerous surface cracks. The edges have small amounts of wood loss. It is a little heavier on the bottom edges and in the area of the bottom nail heads. With the crate come 10 complete .50 Gallagher cartridges. These are all in good condition with varying degrees of corrosion to each. All are solid. None have corroded through the casing. All in all this crate is very good for having been submerged for so long, and it definitely saw service. From the collection of Dean Thomas.
