STRUCK ARTILLERY WATER BUCKET

$695.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: R20142

An interesting excavated artifact consisting of what appears to be a shell or shell fragment struck artillery water bucket. This specimen has a fairly large and deep indentation (7 ½” by 5 1/2”) with a jagged and perforated gash along the side under the handle lug. There is also smaller circular (2 1/2”diameter) dent containing a split located to the left of the larger damaged area. The bottom of this bucket shows various rusted through areas resulting from many years of exposure to the elements. Top cover of the bucket is missing as well. Overall surfaces on the bucket’s body, bale and chain are deeply pitted and there are small trace amounts of soil remaining attached within top seams. This artifact was originally recovered from Trevilion Station, Virginia. A great example of a period war torn item!
