This is a New Model 1858 Remington revolver that is complete except for a small piece of the wood grip. All metal surfaces are heavily pitted but all active rust has been removed. The loading lever still works but the hammer is obviously frozen. Two of the six chambers are loaded but none are capped. Due to the frozen hammer it cannot be determined if the chamber in front of it is loaded. The brass trigger guard is coming loose and is attached by some old glue that is failing. The wood grips are mostly intact except for a missing section approx. 0.75 x 0.75 if an inch in size. Due to the heavy pitting no markings are visible.
A modern tag attached to the revolver reads “PICKED UP AT COLD HARBOR 50 YEARS AFTER WAR. LOADED.”
