The body of this shell is lightly pitted overall with some areas having a little heavier concentration. There is also some light rust. Much of the original surface finish remains. The fuse hole still holds the original iron fuse plug. Marked on the body of the shell in silver paint is “CS 12PNDR. IRON FUSE - SCOTTS DAM, VA. – OCT. 23, 82-R.C.A.”

Shell was meant for use in 12lb smoothbore cannon.
