Rusted iron tang of a sword with a heavy brass pommel cap and scabbard throat section. The section of tang meas. approx. 6.00 inches long and has a crudely attached brass pommel cap. With the item is are two small discolored paper labels; the first reads “CONFEDERATE SWORD HILT. SPOTSYLVANIA BATTLEFIELD, VA. FOUND IN 1973, while the second reads, “CONFEDERATE / SCABBARD __OP”.
