Box meas. approx. 7.25 x 2.25 x 2.75. Leather outer flap is worn around the edges. The surface has crackling with light scattered leather loss. At center of outer flap is circular stitching which holds the latch tab in place underneath. Across the face of the flap is “SHILOH.” This is very faint. It looks to have been done in thin white paint that did not stand up over the years. The body of the box is in poor condition. One end piece is totally missing and the other end is hanging loose. Back has large single loop. Finial is present. Latch tab is split. The best thing is that the box still retains the original tin that helps to support the box. Tin is one piece with divider at center. No doubt this box was Confederate used.
