This is a rare variant of the Confederate frame buckle known as the “Cavalry” style due to its smaller size. Brass has a nice light patina with a slight wave from ground freezing. Buckle was recovered from winter camp of Jeb Stuart’s Cavalry at Orange, Virginia.
