REBUILT 3.67 INCH CANISTER ROUND

$595.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: R20368

This rebuilt canister round is the 3.67-inch variety that was meant for use in the 20 pounder rifle.

The body consists of forty-two 1.25-inch iron canister balls that have been cleaned and glued together. At the base is a thick canister plate with a thinner one at top. Each plate meas. approx. 3.50-inches across. These plates were recovered in a Confederate ammunition dump found during construction of Route 75 in Atlanta, Georgia.

All the components of this rebuilt canister round were expertly cleaned and glued together in such a way that the color of all surfaces is uniform and no glue is visible.

This is a nice example of one of the most deadly and hard to find artillery projectiles of the Civil War. It would certainly enhance any artillery display.
