Nice, little hand cut brass heart that meas. approx. 1.00 inch across at the widest. The heart was the badge of the 24th Corps which was made up of white troops taken from the 10th and 18th Corps. The 24th Corps was created on December 3, 1864 and saw action in both North Carolina and Virginia.
Badge is discolored from age and being in the ground. All that is known is that the item was recovered in northern Virginia.
