This dug Georgia state seal button is in good dug condition. The face is free of any pushes or dents. About 30% of the gilt remains. Mostly in the lower areas.
The reverse has a raised mark in a depressed channel that reads “W. G. MINTZER/PHILA 1861.” Back is totally discolored but shank is present and straight.
Area of recovery is not known.

This beautiful, identified Confederate major’s coat, sash, sword belt, sash, and holster, once in the Texas Civil War Museum, comes with two brown ink notes that were pinned to it, one reading: “Major W. F. Haines / Bowens Staff / Confederate… (1179-277). Learn More »
