This relic is the double band and ramrod throat as found near the muzzle of the Model 1842 smooth-bore or rifled musket. The item is complete but rusted. The front sight is still present and the rear band has a slight crack otherwise it is complete and solid.
Item was recovered at Fredericksburg, Virginia.
