The body of this case-shot shell is in excellent condition. It is clean and smooth throughout. Around the base is a lead cup sabot that exhibits seven lands and grooves. The nose is missing the fuse allowing a view into the center of the shell. The interior is made up of segmented iron for a better distribution of fragments upon detonation.
This shell was meant for use in the 12-pound Blakely rifle.
