18” bayonet made for the Greene rifle, a .53 caliber percussion breech-loader produced by the A.H. Waters Armory in Milbury, Mass., of which 900 were purchased by the US Army in 1863. This rust colored bayonet is solid and retains its full form, along with characteristic Greene locking ring. [See THE BAYONET BOOK, Watts & White, pp. 418, ill. 874.] Location of recovery unknown. Unique and extremely scarce. Fine bayonet collectible.
