Shell has almost no surface rust and light pitting. Brass time fuse plug remains in the nose. Iron base cup is included but not attached to the body of the shell; the base cup shows some chipping and slightly heavier surface pitting than the shell body. Sabot is missing. Three flame grooves run along the base cup and body of the shell. This Hotchkiss was meant for use with a 3.8 inch James rifle.
