This shell was meant for the Armstrong muzzle-loading rifle. Shell is 3-inch with a segmented interior.
The body of the shell has light surface pitting and is mostly smooth. Around the body of the shell are two rows of three brass studs.
The nose has no fuse and allows a clear look into the interior body of the shell. The threads in the fuse hole are caked with dirt and rust.
The base of the shell is flat.
