US 6 lb., 3.67 inch spherical half shell with bullets clearly visible in the black and tan matrix. This shell used a Bormann time fuse. Visible are pistol and musket balls. Both Union and Confederate shells were filled in this fashion, making them into case-shot projectiles. Center of shell matrix shows cylindrical cavity where a bursting charge occurred.
Shell was produced at Allegheny Arsenal in Pittsburgh, PA.
Exterior of shell has moderate pitting. Great for display on a nice wooden base.
