Brass spur was recovered from City Point, Virginia, after the explosion on August 9, 1864, that was a result of Confederate sabotage. Confederate Secret Service agent John Maxwell had smuggled a bomb with a timed fuse aboard an ammunition barge. It caused a tremendous explosion that shook the city and caused much damage.

Spur is in very good condition with a semi-bright patina. Rowel is present and freely turns.  [SM]
