This belt plate features the spread-winged eagle design. It was recovered from the greater Richmond area. Original gilt is still bright. Reverse of plate still retains lead fill and both iron loops.  Maker’s mark is clearly stamped and reads, “W.H. SMITH, BROOKLYN”. Some very light rust and surface dirt is present on reverse.   [SM]
