This US belt plate features the spread-winged eagle design. It was recovered from the greater Richmond area. Plate has a darkened patina and the edge has some scuffing. Reverse of plate still retains lead fill and both iron loops, which have rusted. Maker’s mark is on reverse and reads, “W.H. SMITH, BROOKLYN”. [sm]
