This is half only of a Model 1858 smoothside canteen. These halves were used as plates and digging tools.
The top edge has a notch cut out where the spout once was and the body has a slight bend.
Painted on one side in white is “ANTIETAM.”
Item is rusted throughout but solid. [ad]
