Recovered in greater Richmond, VA area. This excavated U.S. plate for enlistedmen’s belts features the “US” on the face. Plate has significant ground action on the face and a dark brown/green patina. Edge of plate is heavily damaged. Reverse of plate still retains lead fill and all three hooks are present. This has the earlier “puppy paw” studs. Partially visible in the lead is a stamping for “W.H. SMITH BROOKLYN”. Over all in rough shape. [jet]
