Excavated coat-sized button with a face that consists of Virginia state seal, Virtus slaying the tyrant with sword up, intended for Virginia troops. There is a significant push to the lower, right quadrant of the face, but the remaining gilt on face nicely highlights details. The back is pushed in but retains the shank. Backmark reads: “KENT PAINE & CO. RICHMOND”. The recovery location is unknown.   [jet]
